This project reimagines a compact heritage brick shophouse as a contemporary office and showroom, driven by a deliberate dialogue between existing fabric and new intervention.
Key elements of the original structure—including the brickwork, steel framing and slab—were carefully retained, allowing the building’s character to inform the design while reducing embodied carbon. The distinctive stepped entry becomes a defining motif, reinterpreted internally as sculptural elements that stitch together old and new.
The spatial layout is designed to balance client engagement, collaboration and product display across both levels. A sculptural stair, integrated with the reception, anchors the arrival experience, while strategically placed skylights bring natural light deep into the interior, enhancing amenity.
Material choices further reinforce the concept, pairing recycled timber with bold finishes to express both craftsmanship and brand identity. Close collaboration during construction ensured the integrity of the design was carried through to completion.
